New Year's Resolution
Do you think a date on a calendar has the power to change what you are? January 1st rolls around and suddenly you’re a new man? Poof? The addiction just… vanishes? That’s not how this works. You’re making promises to yourself…. that this year will be different….that THIS is FINALLY the year you get better. You’ll stop watching porn. You’ll stop your hand from wandering to your wallet in the middle of the night. You’ll stop sending absurd amounts of money to brats like me. It’s a nice story… really, it is. It makes you feel strong, for a minute. Like you’re in control. But we both know the truth, don’t we? That resolution? It’s a lie you tell yourself so the guilt feels a little lighter for a few days. It’s a delusion. So let’s make a real resolution for you this year. One you can actually keep.
