The Wrong Word
Amirah Adara and Tiffany Tatum are two high school girls hiding a secret that neither of them dares to name. Amirah Adara, the quiet and diligent student, agrees to tutor Tiffany after class. On the surface, their study sessions are about grammar and kanji -- but every look, every touch across the table carries a tension that both try to suppress. One afternoon, while studying together at Amirah's house, a folded note accidentally slips from Amirah's book. Tiffany Tatum picks it up and reads a line written in delicate handwriting: 'Tiffany's laughter feels like sunlight through water. I wish I could drown in it.' The unspoken truth lingers between them -- a secret love that has been written, but never said aloud. Flustered yet intrigued, Tiffany decides to test the waters in her own way. In her next homework assignment, she hides a Japanese word she knows Amirah will notice: 欲 (yoku) -- desire. When Amirah corrects her, asking if she meant to write æ (ai) -- love -- Tiffany smiles innocently and says, 'Maybe I mixed them up... they look kind of similar, don't they?' But Amirah knows better. It wasn't a mistake. It was a confession -- quiet, clever, and deliberate. From that moment, their lessons become something more than studying. Every character Tiffany writes, every note Amirah passes, turns into a secret message only the two of them can read. The line between teacher and student, love and desire, discipline and temptation blurs with every passing day. 'The Wrong Word' is a soft, emotionally charged story about hidden affection, quiet rebellion, and the language of unsaid things. It explores how love sometimes begins not with a kiss, but with a single misplaced word -- one that changes everything.
